3. My experience
I’ve been hitting the gym regularly for about three years now.
❓Why do you think I started it in the first place?
I still remember my first day at the gym — I had no idea what I was doing. I just walked around trying to look like I belonged, pretending I knew how to use the machines. I started with the treadmill because, you know, it looked safe. I set it too fast and almost fell off after two minutes. Great start.
At first, I could barely finish a full workout. I’d do a few sets of dumbbell curls, some squats, and then pretend to stretch while secretly catching my breath. My arms were shaking after every session, and the next day I could hardly lift my arms. That post-workout soreness was real.
But little by little, things changed. Now, the gym’s not just about building muscle — it’s more like a mental reset. I throw on my headphones, start my playlist, and zone out for an hour.
❓What was your first day like at the gym or …?
